How to get your full credit report — and upload it to ScoreToClose
We do not pull your credit. ScoreToClose never contacts a credit bureau, and your credit is not checked when you sign up. You get your own report and choose to share it with us — that keeps you in control of who sees it.
We need the full report, not a score. A number on its own tells us almost nothing. The full report shows every account, balance, payment history and inquiry — which is what we need to build your plan.
Where to get it
Any of these work. The first is the one we recommend, because it gives you the complete file from all three bureaus at no cost.
The only site authorised by federal law to give you free reports, run by the three bureaus together. It gives you the complete file, not a summary.
- 1Go to AnnualCreditReport.com — type the address in yourself rather than clicking a link in an email or an ad.
- 2Choose your state and select “Request your credit reports”.
- 3Fill in your name, current address, date of birth, and Social Security number.
- 4Select all three bureaus — Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. Each one holds different information, so all three gives the fullest picture.
- 5Answer the identity questions about accounts and addresses from your history. If you are not sure of an answer, most offer a “none of the above” option.
- 6When the report opens, download or print it as a PDF. Do not just leave it on screen — we need the file.
These reports do not include your credit scores, which is fine — we need the report itself. Each bureau sells the score separately if you also want it.
Use this if you want Experian's report specifically, or if the free site would not verify you.
- 1Go to Experian.com and create a free account.
- 2Open your credit report section and choose the full report.
- 3Use the download or print option and save it as a PDF.
The free account shows your report and a score. Make sure you save the report, not just the score screen.
Equifax's own portal, for the same file from the third bureau.
- 1Go to Equifax.com and create a free account — look for the free report option, not a paid subscription.
- 2Open your credit report.
- 3Download it, or print to PDF.
Equifax will offer a paid monitoring plan during signup. You do not need it; the free report is enough.
TransUnion's own portal.
- 1Go to TransUnion.com and create a free account.
- 2Open your credit report.
- 3Download it, or print to PDF.
We accept a Credit Karma export, so if that is what you already have, upload it — it is a real starting point.
- 1Sign in to CreditKarma.com.
- 2Open your credit report section.
- 3Use the download or print option to save it as a PDF.
Credit Karma shows a summary built from TransUnion and Equifax data and leaves out some detail. If you have both this and a bureau report, send the bureau report.
What is not a report
We cannot build a plan from these, so please do not send them:
- A screenshot of a score — we cannot read account-level detail from an image of a number.
- The score shown in your bank or credit-card app — that is a score, not a report.
- A one-page summary or “credit snapshot” — we need the version that lists each account.
- Credit Sesame or similar apps, unless they let you export the full report.
Saving it as a PDF
Uploading it to ScoreToClose
- 1Sign in to your ScoreToClose account.
- 2Open My Documents.
- 3Choose the PDF you saved and upload it.
- 4Wait for the confirmation. If the upload fails, check that the file is a PDF and under the size limit shown on the page.
- 5Have reports from more than one bureau? Upload each one.
Questions
Only use AnnualCreditReport.com for free reports — many sites with similar names are subscription traps that charge you monthly. ScoreToClose does not guarantee any particular credit outcome, does not make credit decisions, and does not charge you a fee.
